Business Litigation

Business disputes take many forms. They include actions to collect debts, actions for breach of contract, and disputes between shareholders, officers, directors or investors to name a few. Mr. Preston enjoys practicing law in this area because he has business experience in multiple industries, including but not limited to, the alcohol industry, the publishing industry, in real estate, and importing and exporting, in addition to his legal experience. Mr. Preston has four decades of business experience having started his own lawn mowing business at the age of ten. He has done business in many different countries ranging from the Soviet Union to Russia, Ukraine, the Philippines, Mexico, the United Kingdom, the Cayman Islands and others. Mr. Preston’s experience in international business, in attracting capital, in product and services sales, in navigating the different legal environments, and in currency arbitrage has provided him with unique experience that gives him an advantage in handling business matters with and for his clients.

First and foremost, Mr. Preston is a trial lawyer. In his more than twenty-one years of practicing law, he has tried more than 50 jury trials to verdict and many more bench trials than that. These trials have included first-degree murder cases, drug cases, land disputes, fraud cases, breach of contract cases and shareholder disputes among others. He enjoys litigation because it is analogous to a sport. We enjoy an adversarial system that requires preparation, planning and an ultimate contest or trial, just like a game, against an opponent. Just with any sport, experience is valued in litigation as well.
